iconic Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I like this advanced technique, maybe not for everyone but why waste energy & why not keep that hand in your pocket if it isn't needed ....there is even a hint of slap just before the 'big' bass playing bit at 1:49....I've tried this advanced one hand technique but struggle to be honest I run out of open strings...there are some C's, F's and even a F# in this choone so that's 7 strings, not counting the octave mini pops...but I'm sure that's looks a 4 string http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA__pPxyx_A Quote
Grangur Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Yep, it's amazing what you can achieve on TV when miming to a backing track *sigh* Quote
visog Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 This band always struck me as a Buggles knock-off... Preferred 'World of Water' Quote

Hobbayne Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 This technique is not new. Derek Smalls from Spinal Tap has been doing that for years. Quote
Roger2611 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The bassist for New Music looks just like the guy who had his hand stuck up Spit the Dog's backside! maybe it was this demonstration of skill that got him the Spit gig? I was always frustrated that I had to take my hand out of my pocket to play the B in James "Sit Down" but now I have a 5 string I can get in training for the Spit the Dog come back tour Quote
