basshead56 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Guy selling what he says is a 2011 Am Std. P Bass. Was LPB a factory colour then? Also, weren't the bodies string-through? There doesn't seem to be anywhere to string through. What u guys think? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=577921718 Cheers Colin Quote
Musky Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I don't know about the colour options, but the Am Standards have high mass bridges and though stringing. Quote
grenadilla Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I have a 1997 Lake Placid Blue Precision and that colour has not been used recently except on other models. [cheaper and Custom Shop] The serial number does indicate 2011, I think.Has the neck been swapped out? Quote
Hobbayne Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) Its a USA neck, but the truss rod access on the body looks wrong. Edited April 1, 2013 by Hobbayne Quote

Lozz196 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013
I'm thinking USA neck and Mexican body?
My thoughts too. The serial number indicates 2011, and the tuners are the right ones for that year. As Hobbayne points out, the truss rod access looks wrong, and as Musky says, US Standards of 2011 have hi-mass bridge and thru-body stringing. Avoid - especially at the money quoted. Quote
iiipopes Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) That's definitely a MIM body with an Am Std neck. Not only because of the simple plate bridge instead of the high-mass top load or body through bridge with milled saddles with optional grooves, but because of the color. This particular shade of blue is very common with MIM instruments, both Strats and basses, and not used on Am Std, or at least not that particular shade. Edited April 1, 2013 by iiipopes Quote
basshead56 Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Cheers gents. I figured it was a MIM body alright. The USA neck looks fine but as a few of you suggested, the body raises questions. Cheers Shall stick to my 70's P's then (until a good deal for an ACTUAL Am Std comes along!) haha Maybe I should go for the 51 RI (CIJ) I got offered... Or mortgage payments... decisions decisions... As always, thanks all Quote
