Leon Transaxle
Check out studio devil. The virtual bass amp is excellent (only$69 too) and although i havent tried the guitar one it has had great reviews.
The free Studio Devil British amp valve custom is pretty good, and I have got some useful tones out of the free version of Shred too. I shall give AmpLion a try. Can't beat the Amplitude Ampeg plug in for bass though.
paul_5
The AmpLion and the Studio devil are getting a lot of use this week.
timgosden
I highly rate the Tech21 pedals/Sansamp Bass Driver DI in the studio. I've mic'd and DI'd most amps going with all kinds of mics and the Sansamp always sounds great. Guitar Rig, Ampltube etc. are all useful but it can often be more productive to commit to your tone as you record rather than have the option to tweak infinitely afterwards...
