iconic
Song in question just jack writers block, goes Am/G/ Dm. Assuming its in A minor so the chords run as 1, 7, 4, would it be correct to say " its a 1, 7, 4 over A minor" ....? ....you know how one might say "its 12 bars blues 1, 4, 5. over C" for instance? Ive never heard anyone talk of a minor run but plenty of songs like this
gstirrat
I'd still consider that to have no sharps or flats, and relate it to it's major key, C. Therefor I'd just call it 6, 5, 2. The tonality (major or minor) of each chord you listed is correct to those chord numbers. Make sense?
iconic
I was wondering if everything related back to a major...?
gstirrat
To a certain extent, yeah. There are plenty of modal tunes, especially in Jazz, that don't necessarily relate to a conventional major scale, but most popular music is diatonic and fits nicely into the chords of a major key. ubassman
6, 5, 2 It does relate to the key signature in C Major . http://www.jazclass.aust.com/lessons/jt/jt15.htm
iconic
So would anything over a minor be incorrect....its always back to the relative major?
