2003 to 2006 was Satin Acrylic Lacquer Finish, not nitro. (Although it is a similar type of finish - just more stable and less prone to cracking / checking etc)

When you take a scratch plate off a 9 year old bass, that's never been off before - & you can still smell the cellulose - that's Nitro not what someone's read on the www somewhere.

It will have a nitro clear coat that you can smell. It's a 3 part finish with the first coat being a non-lacquer "sealer", then the acrylic colour coat and then a "nitro" clear coat.

The AVRI range was finished in nitro BUT it was over a poly base coat, according to a Fender employee I spoke to about 15 years ago.

The Fullerton Reissues '82 to 85 were all nitro just as the pre CBS's. Sometimes they turn up at a good price, though considerably more than the roadworn.

I have ordered a nitro finished sunburst P from the bass doc. It will have a tinted thin nitro coating on the neck

Got the Jazz and Precision in work today.

The Jazz is lovely, but for some reason the 50's Precision is remarkable. I had the 50's in honey blonde poly up until a couple of years ago and it was a great bass, but the nitro finish must have a part in how good this bass is.

Looks like the cabronita purchase is being delayed.

Black isn't usually a colour I go for...but with that yellow maple neck...nice!

£830 for a nitro Fender, with a proper rather suave case!
