Ajgor
Hello. This is my first post on this forum, so... Hello everyone I am Andrew from Poland. I'd like to ask about one very important (for me:) ) thing. I am not certain, if I put this thread in proper place, so sorry, if not. And sorry for my bad english I have a Laney Pro-bass 150Watt Combo similar to this: http://basschat.co.u...condition-sold/ In this power amplifier there is a parametric EQ with Lo/Hi/Off switcher, limiter and 11-band graphic EQ. Also I have a Fernandes PJR45 bass made in 1985 year. I have bought it a some days ago, and I have a big problem with getting a good sound on this tandem No matter, how I set the EQ-s, and guitar, the sound is bad I am playing blues, soft rock etc, and would like to get something like bass in this movie: or similar to it. Can anyone help me, please?
brensabre79
Hello Ajgor welcome to Basschat It is difficult to help you because we don't know what is bad about the sound. I would start with all the graphic EQ in the middle position (flat) Set the gain to the middle (12 o'clock) Turn the limiter off to start with and turn off parametric also. Then you have the flat sound for the amplifier - you can use the Graphic equaliser to turn down the frequencies you don't like. If the sound has too much treble, turn down the higher frequencies. Too much bass? turn down the lower frequencies.
Ajgor
Thank You for Your answer. I will test all Your suggestions The problem is, that I can not get a clean, but warm sound. When I try to make clean sound, it has less warming and goes more... dry. When I try to add some lower frequencies, it is too dirty. I can not explain it better. Sorry. Mr. Foxen
Don't add lows with eq, cut them. The speaker in a combo is pretty much never going to be suited to lows. Add some low mids maybe.
Ajgor
Thanks. If it is important, in my combo I have four 10" speakers. Exactly like here: http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j135/phsycoandy/IMG_0833-1.jpg
brensabre79
I had the Laney ProBass head many many years ago - it was given to me. It is not a warm sounding amp and I could never get on with it myself. But for more warmth, as Oli said above, you can try adding low mid frequencies, rather than Low. Also, if you are getting any distortion, the gain is probably too high, when you boost eq you should turn the gain down a bit. Use the master volume if you want to go louder.
