the boy Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 The Doors, for I reckon if jim had of received a few slaps of a jazz bass he wouldn't of been such an arsehole. Quote
WhoNeedsYou Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Actually the PERFECT band for me would be the runaways, though i would turn my nose up to the drugs unless they involved cake! Quote

PTB Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 As Dave Swift's job has gone, I would enjoy doing Will Lee's gig on the Letterman show. A wide variety of artists to play with & sensible working hours - sounds perfect to me. Quote
HMX Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 (edited)
Foo Fighters, seen them live loads of times and always come away thinking it would be my dream job.
+1 Edited April 9, 2013 by HMX Quote
D.I. Joe Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but do record company house bands like the Funk Brothers count in this list? If so then they have my vote. I can't imagine how amazing it must be to work with so many great musicians and to perform and record with different talents every day, and best of all - to be given free reign on the bass part! theo23 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 It would be Iron Maiden but without Steve, who's going to write their epics :/ Quote
Damonjames Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 For me it would be Metallica Stone temple pilots Red hot chilli peppers Jamiroquai Chic Quote
discreet Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Hello, is this going again? OK then... Ken Dodd's Dad's Dog's Dead. Quote
Count Bassy Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Assuming that my lack of talent is not a problem, then Family. Simply because they were/are my favourite band ever. Quote
Freddy Le Cragg Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Taste Cream Jimi Hendrix Experience or if the Delorean was in the garage, I'd go for The Cold War Kids Quote
AntLockyer Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Paul Butterfield's band after Mike left. Quote
crag42 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Level 42. . Hands down Not much love on here for the kinger but he's the sole reason I play bass Quote

Geek99 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013
The Bangles, who wouldnt have wanted to share a dressing room with Suzannah Hoffs
The others were quite hot too Quote
wateroftyne Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Mark Knopfler's band. I actually got a taste of it earlier in the year and it was every bit as awesome as I'd hoped. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Herbie Hancock's band. In some ways, Zappa's band would be preferable. But I've heard that he was a hard taskmaster and that playing in his band was musically rewarding, but not always pure enjoyment. Weather Report would be nice too, but I think that Zawiunul comes up with fewer cracking melodic tracks than Hancock. Edit: Jan Hammer? BTW: I listen to mainly pop/rock. But this thread is about which band I'd like to play in if I could. Edited December 23, 2013 by Annoying Twit Quote
4000 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I'm also in a band I'm really happy with. I also wouldn't want to hear me in most of my favourite bands as the bassists are a vitally important part of the music and sound, but that aside I'd love to play in/with any of the following: Hawkwind circa Space Ritual or Warrior (i.e. Lemmy era) Seal (1st 2 albums) KT Tunstall ABBA Return To Forever Quote
krysh Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 There is no "band" that I would love to replace the bassplayer in, but there are a lot musicians I'd love to do an originals project with like prince, larry carlton, herbie hancock, to name only a few... Quote
grunge666 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 KISS (don't say a word!!) Iron Maiden Queens of the Stone Age or Fu Manchu Quote
Graham Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Involving time travel, Metallica on the Shattered Justice tour, without a Tardis, Down or Cave In would suit me very well. I have recently come across a small band from Brighton called Sea Bastard I'd love to play for, if their bass player quit I'd give auditioning serious consideration. Quote
cameltoe Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Black Lips! because I'd have the absolute best time and I could hit as many bum notes as I liked and no-one would notice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QxwA4ZCioI Quote
