Kobra11
hey guys, Ive got an audition for a metal band soon that plays in drop c, my current set of EB super slinkys (45-100) feel a little floppy in this tuning. Would you guys recommend getting a heavier 4 string set eg. 55-110 or getting a standard 5 string set but just using the bottom 4 strings? WarrenD
Hello Sir, You may well find quite an imbalance regarding tension for a drop tuning and this gauge mix. I recommend ordering single strings. If you're happy with EB slinky strings you'll probably like D'Addario XL Nickel too. They are sold as single strings on stringbusters.com. For C G C F tuning try 120-90-70-50, or similar. Cheers! charic
For drop C I get a set made by Newtone. They're the standard thicknesses but the tension has been altered. Only disadvantage is there's a bit of a lead time on them (PS. You'll probably need atleast a 110 on the C)
thodrik
The new D'addario balanced tension set at 120-50 works well for drop c.
