I was just thinking that it could be a laugh if we tried to put on a basschat gig or mini-festival featuring the various bands whose bassists are forum members. So, vote in the poll: good or bad idea?

I can see exactly where your coming from, but to be honest i feel like a bit of an ass telling the rest of my band that i wanted us to play at a bass playing convention!

That is a stonking idea - but we would need to hire a venue with a decent sized stage area. One decent PA system for the day and obviously we could use our own backline, but we would need somewhere big enough to accomodate storage of kit, unless people (drummers) dont mind sharing.

I would definately be up for something like that!

crazy idea.... soooo many bands! soooo many places.

If you can pull it off, i'll eat someones hat (i dont have one of my own to eat).

If we did it over a weekend, we could maybe split 3 nights into different groupings of styles: funk, hard-rock/metal, indie rock, with jazz in the afternoons... Hmm...

I'd try and get Acuphuncture to play it; ok, I'm the guitarist in that band, but the bassist is so much better than I am it's rude, so I'm sure you'd all get a kick out of it. And we need gigs.

Basstonbury, eh? A logistical nightmare I'm sure, but a lovely idea. Imagine a massive audience of bassheads greeting every g**tar solo with chants of "Turn it down, turn it down, turn it down...." :)

Fantastic idea, but how many people would show up? Would bands expect payment to attend? Lots of intangibles to tie down :)
