HK 7 String Basses

Just officially bought this bass as was trying it out before purchasing.. really enjoying it! i know these basses are budget 7-string's as only cost me £900, and have done a bit of googling on them, but i think they have a great sound and look really nice for the money, would be interesting to know if any other basschatter's out there own one of these basses or have played one before?

Looks great, sounds great, bet it plays great...whats not to like. Looks like incredible value for money to me. Nice playing, really like it. Thanks for sharing!

Used to have the on in my sig picture. Great basses for the money. Only sold mine because the sheer weight of it was causing hip pain when I played it sitting down. Good luck finding a set of strings thoguh

Ahh, yeah i suppose she is a bit weighty, but i haven't noticed it too much when playing!

About the strings thing, i've managed to find a few sets online for a fairly good price.. around £30-35, that's not bad considering most 4-5 string sets around £25-30 anyway :-)

There used to be a metal band based in Brum where the bassist used one of these, loads of tapping, huge chords and stuff like that. Sounded lovely through my Markbass amp!

Get that to MDP at Cleartone Phillips (very)Ltd.
They could make a terrible 6 string guitar for Navvys out of that no problem.
Prob add a hotrail banjo pickup in the headstock for that gnats cock of edge and mismatch the knobs for that asymmetric avant look.
Do it.

Cool, could you find out what the band was? would love to check out some other audio/video clips of these basses in action.

They were called Viable Truth. I just had a look for some live videos but couldn't find any. There's a track here, but in typical metal mix fashion, you can't hear the bass! It's annoying as they always sounded great live!

Hi bill congrats, for the money they are unbeatable, Shame these are no longer made now, pity as i have been looking for
a fretted one since i got my fretless one,
I know a few people looking for these, where did you find this one ?

Ah, i had no idea they had been dis-continued! :-( i bought this one from a guitarist called Alex Hutchings! he had it lying about in his studio/rehearsal place and has a few guitars and basses for sale and this one managed to catch my eye being a monster 7 string bass!

i keep my eye on ebay incase one pops up, as do a few others on here
enjoy, you wont find better for what you paid.
