Jellyfish Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 As a fanboy of modern Yamaha's, this excites me very much. Quote
fatgoogle Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I was just watching this and i too am very excited. Ive been missing my trb 6 string for a while, it just worked in everything. Quote
Machines Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 When ? How much ?! I've been silently waiting for Yamaha to develop the under used RBX range and this seems to be what I've been waiting for. Can't wait to try one. Quote
jezzaboy Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Just when you think GAS has gone..... That black 4 string is a damm fine looking bass. Quote
ead Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) GAK have got the 300 series in and looks like the 500 series on order. Looks to me they are going to be excellent value basses. Edited April 12, 2013 by ead Quote
Grafen Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I tried them both a couple of weeks ago and they both feel and sound really good, slim necks but not tiny. I do prefer the more expensive one with the AlNiCo-pickups though. Quote
cocco Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Do we know anything about prices? This is an exciting bass. Yamaha really do have all areas covered! Quote
Dingus Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I can see these being really popular . Looks like a lot of thought has gone into the design , and the electronics look very practical and very useful . Quote
jezzaboy Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) Here is a link to Gak. Good prices. Mcgiver69 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Well GAK website has both basses TRBX-305 (5 strings) £302 TRBX-500 (5 strings) £424.99 Now that's what a call reasonable. Quote
Machines Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 If those prices hold through to when they're released I'll definitely be getting a 5 string version. Just wish I knew when that'll be. Quote
badboy1984 Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 think they will do a 6 string? I quite like yamaha 6 string bass. Quote
Machines Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I literally can't wait. Nearly bought an RBX375 a few weeks ago and held off. Looks I did the right thing. Quote
RandomBass Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 If the TRBX plays and sounds as good as the looks and specs, Yamaha have really pulled one out of the bag. And at that price? Blimey. Quote
uncle psychosis Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 These look sweet. Maybe a TRBX would go well with my TRB and my BB? Quote
bagsieblue Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I do like the look of these - being a Yammy should be pretty solid as well Quote
cocco Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 If I can find somewhere to play one I'm gonna seriously consider a 500, based on how good it is passive, I doubt I'll use the preamp but it will be handy to have. Maybe that will cure my in achievable BB2024 GAS. Quote

These TRBX's are cheap and cheerful ( from what I can see ) , but the BB2024 is one of the few high end basses that really lives up to the hype , and is actually a bit of a bargain compared to other high- end basses despite costing a lot of money . The 2024 / 2025 are a wickedly good sounding and feeling basses , especially if you don't. want active electronics in so much as they have got all the depth and power of a good active bass but are in fact passive and very organic sounding at the same time . When I first heard thses were in the pipeline I thought Yamaha were going to do a high end "X " version of the TRB like they had done with the BBs' a few years ago , and I was wondering what they would be like . Obviously , I had got the wrong end of the stick , but these still look great . Edited April 13, 2013 by Dingus Quote
geoffbyrne Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) Get a BBG5 & put RBX 375 pickups on it. Works great! http://smg.photobucket.com/user/geoffbyrne/media/P1010062.jpg.html Why can't I post images like I used to? Oh - I can!! - the one on the right. G. Edited May 20, 2013 by geoffbyrne Quote
Machines Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) That BB looks so much better than the 375 with those pickups in. Perhaps just naff colour choices for the RBX3 range ? I've emailed Yamaha to try and get a release date for the TRBX as i'm impatient ! Edited May 20, 2013 by Machines Quote
