lowlandtrees
I use an old Boss TU12 that I have had for ever. Seems quite slow to register and not sure about its acuracy. Which tuners do folk use for DB?
Gareth Hughes
A Boss TU-2 does the job fine for me (and has a handy 1Mohm impedence). Try plucking the string close to the bridge or the nut - can make it easier for the tuner to read the note. Or the octave harmonic.
philparker
I use a clip-on mini tuner on the bridge, which works fine. Plugged in I use a TC Electronic Polytune, which is impressively instantaneous!

ash
I have a Snark tuner on the bridge, these seem more stable than the other clip on tuners I've tried.
Clarky
I also use a SNark clip-on, very easy and responsive. And cheap which is nice
Bilbo
Clip on here. Works for me.

lowlandtrees
hi does the TC polytune have a mic or is it strictly plug in?

Hector
Was once feeling extravagant and treated myself to the Rolls Royce of clip-on tuners: http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=168 I wanted a clip on to just pop on the bridge, and didn't want to have anything extra in my signal chain. Works beautifully! Well constructed, good display, tracks quickly and very accurate. It isn't the cheapest option, but being in tune is worth it. TheG
I like the look of the StroboClip looks excellent. I use a PolyTune for my double bass which I really like. I use the Strobe setting on it so I can get accurate results. i love it. As stated above it is only plug in though but that doesn't bother me the way i use it. lowlandtrees
Yes the stroboclip looks great but priceee. The idea of a good clip on is appealing. A chain of appliances is a bit annoying. I use a fishman pre into the tuner then into the amp. Could end up like a guitarist ye gods forbid. I remember paying around 60 squid for my TU12 when it first came out, probably 20+ years ago so gadget prices have remained stable and have gone down in real terms. I think that I am uncontrollably talking myself into the stroboclip. I mostly record although do not rule out gigging. The Kania contrabass sound requires micing up as well as the piezo so all these things can divert you from actually playing accurately
tiki613
I use the snark all instrument model (i play the ukulele too), it's perfect and for my pedalboard the korg DT10 http://www.stringsbymail.com/store/snark-sn-2-clip-on-chromatic-all-instrument-tuner-6802.html
blinddrew
I have one of these: http://www.westfieldguitar.co.uk/westfield/prod_details.asp?ID=455 It works on most of my instruments but struggles with the double bass, I have you use the harmonics for the fat strings. oggiesnr
gstring on my android phone. Trick is to position really close in a noisy room. Steve
MartyForrer
I use a cheap as Belcat clip-on which stays on my bridge. I find it's as good as any of the regular tuners I've ever had and has a good big easy to read display.
ubassman
I use an Iphone App http://eumlab.com/string-tuner/
tinyd
I have an Intellitouch PT-10 clip-on. It seems reasonably accurate and responsive but what I really like about it is that it has a bright, clear display that you can read easily on a dark stage. simon_says
I leave a Snark on the peg box as it is less obvious between the machine heads than on the bridge and doesn't get sarky comments from the conductor. I need to use harmonics rather than fundamentals though.
invicta59
I use a rackmount Behringer.. works great for me. It's sometimes a little slow picking up the signal in a noisy room, but as long as I get it in the gaps between songs, I don't mind.
hairyhatman
Snark works OK on my Stagg EUB. Good inexpensive tuner.
paddy109
I bought a Snark after reading reviews here. It is spot on with good clear display and much easier to use than my old clip on tuner that was a bit hit and miss especially on the a and e.
