Truckstop
Hello all, One of my BB425x's has developed a crackle when I play it. I've checked my leads, amp, effects and cabs and it's definitely coming from the bass. It doesn't crackle any more or less when I shake the bass about when the notes are ringing and it's also accompanied by intermittent irregular volume drops. Almost like it's on the verge of cutting out completely. The issue literally appeared overnight, the bass has had a sheltered existence (no bangs or drops) and it's always kept in a bag when it's not being used. The pup switch and the knobs still as responsive as ever and the crackle is still there regardless of whichever pup or combination of pups I'm using. Anyone else ever experienced such a thing with a 424/425? Cheers Alex
CHRISDABASS
99 percent of the time it will be a bit of dirt in one of the pots! We've had guitars come into the workshop with the owner convinced he needed new pots and a switch. We saved him time and money buy just giving it all a good clean Buy a can of super servisol spray and give the pots a squirt in the little hole on the back while turning them! That usually does the trick If that doesnt work i'd imagine a bad solder joint some where. Maybe on the input Let me know if you need a hand Cheers Chris Edited April 16, 2013 by CHRISDABASS
