String identification assistance

I have a second-hand bass that came with some nickel strings which have purple wrap on both ends (i.e. before the string enters the tuning pegs and the bridge). The previous owner can't remember what make they were, but they sound great and I'd like to replace them with the same make.

Anyone have a clue what they may be?

This may help - http://basschat.co.u...g-wrap-colours/

There appear to be about 4 different strings with purple wraps, so perhaps the best thing would be to see if you can get your hands on a micrometer or vernier gauge and measure the string thicknesses and compare them with the various makes listed on the above thread. That should help you narrow down your choice. Aldi or Lidl quite often have some quite good value digital vernier scales - I bought a couple a few weeks ago for iirc around £7 each. Perhaps there's a basschatter near you who might lend you one or measure your strings for you. They are very useful if you've got a few stringed instruments around and forget which strings you've got on.
