Twigman Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I have been toying with the idea of getting an all valve head. I have toyed with the idea of giving Matamp a ring and dropping £1.5k on a GT200....but it feels like a lot of moolah. Then I thought i I could make my own, <Top gear>How hard can it be?</Top Gear> So I started to trawl the interweb looking for info. There does not seem to be much out there. So....what info sources do you suggest for a DIY 150-200W all valve bass amp potential build? I'd ideally need circuit diags, parts suppliers, costings etc etc Quote

bremen Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780879307677?redirected=true&gclid=CI7TyqWy1LYCFSXLtAodbScAIw Some of his text is a bit suspect (he refers to the tone control inductor in the SVT as a 'transducer' among other nonsciences) but it's full of schematics. For top quality iron you could go to http://www.sowter.co.uk/ and for glass envelopes of vacuum: http://www.thetubestore.com/ Everything else you should be able to get from Farnell. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Much better off buying a fixer old amp and rebuilding it. Old PA or something, the layouts on the Mhuss Hiwatt site are probably the most useful thing as a build resource. Quote
