Mandark
Hey guys, mind if i tap into the the wealth of knowledge? I just picked up this P/J bass. Has anybody seen one or know anything about it? The details i have are a little sketchy. This is the only picture i have at the moment, i should be able to upload some more shortly. [attachment=133012:8825208-108-640x426.jpg] I was told it is from the early 70's possible from Korea or Japan, Swamp ash Jazz body, appears to be a Precision style Maple neck with Ebony fret-board There's no cavity in the front, there are the 3 inline control pots on the front with a staggered series/parallel switch (although this could have been a 4th pot) the 1/4'' jack is in the side, which you can just see poking out on the bottom right. I have also been told that this is all original except the pots and the bridge. Although the wiring and pick-ups have now been removed. The spacing between the bridge pick-up and the bridge looks minuscule, much smaller than any I've ever seen, although this could be an illusion because of the aftermarket bridge. There doesn't appear to be any signs of it being modified in any way, the rear cavity and pick-up cavity's all look like the were done at the same time. There are no signs of any screw holes where the pick-guard would sit. Any ideas? Many thanks C

Mandark
Yes, it could very well be mahogany!
Mandark
Had a closer look, you can see the untreated wood in the cavity's, looks more like ash than mahogany. More picture if it helps [attachment=133055:DSCF3777.JPG] [attachment=133056:DSCF3779.JPG] [attachment=133057:DSCF3785.JPG] [attachment=133058:DSCF3789.JPG] [attachment=133059:DSCF3792.JPG] [attachment=133060:DSCF3805o (3).JPG] The last pic is with a Peavey jazz clone pickguard which show the pick up spacing,
skater dan0
I have absolutely no idea what it is but my two pence is to route it for a neck jazz, whack the pickguard on there and make it sweet urge II style bass
