Condenser mics don't have to be anything special. A Behringer C2 or two will do you.

I use a Maplin/Tandy £20 omni-directional electret microphone. Even with an acoustic drum kit played as reasonable volumes about 1.5m away, it doesn't overload, and it picks up enough of the lead guitar amp and/or keyboard amp that I can keep track of what is going on. Mottlefeeder
Checking out sources of KZ ZS10s and I have found two types. Can anyone help idientify whether they have the same innards and same sound, or whether one is an inferior copy of the other? Thanks David

I wasn't ampless but it's a venue commonly known for being really dry and quite hard to get a good feel on stage. Certainly gives you an amp-like feeling, preferable a little to the Woojer I had previously, largely in where it sits on you. Missed it when I turned it down briefly! Funny - I’m the opposite, I like the Woojer - but the Woojer with a transducer, one of each, on my hips.

The Headphone Vac Jr. by Fir Audio. It should hopefully be with me by Monday. Not cheap but hopefully worth it. Take a look - the first video is an overview and the second video shows a typical cleaning session: Got a chance to use this yesterday and, after some improvisation, it did the trick. I found that the wax in the tiny ports had hardened and didn’t want to get sucked out by the Headphone Vac, so I had to think outside the box a little. I borrowed a friend’s hairdryer to warm up the tips of my UE6s and soften the wax - then reinserted the Headphone Vac and the wax was much more willing to come out. Turns out I had lost a bit of treble response due to the wax but post-vacuuming they sound great again. Good times!

I have quite narrow ear canals and funny shaped ears, in fact I've never been able to get any in-ear headphones to fit and stay in and I use over ears at home. Anyway my Etymotic ER20 earplugs do stay in with the smallest triple flange tips fitted, so I ordered some of these triple flange things https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06WP97FL3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used them in earnest for the first time last night at a gig. Tricky to get in but I got a great seal so the band noise was reduces right down to almost nothing, bass frequencies all preserved because of the seal and a really clear mix of the band at levels which were almost at normal conversation levels. The ZS10's didn't shift all night, at one point I thought they had moved as the band suddenly got very loud but I'd knocked the volume control up, my goodness how loud can those ZS10 headphones go! This is a game changer for me, I was never going to spend hundreds of pounds on customised IEM's until I knew I'd actually use them, this gives me a way in. Best £3 I've spent in a while. Based on this review I also spent £3 to fit these to my UE 900s earphones - up to now I’ve been getting an ok response with different foam ear buds, but playing at church where sometimes you have to take one side in and out a bit they never last long... these things though are brilliant - I’ve just used them and not had so good, and long lasting, isolation from the room - you know they work when the ambient noise of a bunch of people chatting in the room is quieter than your IEM mix was. Really really really good. Recommended if anyone hasn’t found something that works for you plus if you’ve any wax in your ears the flanges pull it all out!

Me three - I bought a set of the small ones for my ZS10s and they are really good, much better than the stock ones. I'm awaiting some motorbiking ear plugs from Mercury Audio - they were doing a deal at the bike show and took an impression while I waited. They also make in-ears with varying numbers of drivers. I'll let you know what the motorbiking plugs are like.

pete.young
They said don't talk, dont move your jaw and sit still, but didn't give me a bite block. Even if they're not a perfect fit, they're going to be a lot better and more comfortable than the reusable foam ones.

mrtcat
Anyone find that the quality of fit from custom moulds changes with bodyweight changes? I do a lot of training for various things (triathlon / marathons etc) and have two sets of custom moulds. Both impressions were taken by Paul at CIEM co. The first were done 4 years ago when I had a year off due to injury so I was carrying more weight the second were done just over a year ago (EBS_FREAK was present) during a training year. If I'm carrying less weight only the second set gives good isolation but if I'm carrying more weight (like I was over Christmas due to festivities and limited training due to baby arrival) both sets work well. I never thought that small fluctuations in body weight (no more than about 6kg either way) could make a difference.

EBS_freak
https://www.procosound.com/topic/wiems Not on 2.4Ghz. Big tick. No mention of stereo - assuming mono by balanced XLR. Not the greatest of latency figures... but with another player in the wifi digital IEM zone, it's an indication that things are beginning to happen on the digital front I guess. EBS_freak
Just stumbled across http://www.stagewave.io another system in the same guise as https://audiofusionsystems.com/ Umm, not convinced with audiofusion but not tried stagewave... however I suspect the same will be true. Roger2611
I need a bit of help if possible, sorry if it becomes a bit of a long post, I will try to be as brief as I can.... I have recently brought a Soundcraft UI24R mixer mainly to use as an enclosed in ear monitor system, we tried the set up last night with disappointing results, the in ear bit worked ok but did show the limitations of the cheap in ear systems, however, I could not get the backing tracks and the click to separate, the idea was click to right channel and just to the aux sends and backing tracks to the left channel and to both the aux sends and FOH. The backing tracks are recorded correctly, I double checked them today and they are all click on one side backing tracks on the other, I then tested the MP3's we are using and other than a tiny bit of cross bleed (caused by the use of side chain compression in the conversion to MP3) again the click in on one side and the music on the other, so I then sent it to my phone and played it back through my main mixing desk via a stereo mini jack to duel mono XLR's but at that point I end up with music and click out of both channels....so either the cable is wrong or the way the phone is outputting the sound is wrong, we used the same cable last night but with the backing tracks on an Ipad with the same outcome which suggests the cable is wrong so I checked the XLR wiring....one plug has a white wire and an earth and the other a red wire and earth.....which surely suggests duel mono, which should be what I need? Any ideas? Cheers Rog
mrtcat
Is the phone set up to have a stereo output or is it mono? Worth checking the settings?
PaulWarning
sorry if this has been asked before, but has anybody tried bluetooth wireless headphones? I've got of the latest Bluetooth 5.0 ones, I've heard the latency issues have been improved, I can't get on with normal ear buds the wire to the receiver just irritates the hell out of me
