chilievans
I have a rockbass corvette which has now become redundant due to my recent bb2004 purchase the question is what to do with it? Do I: 1, keep it as a just in case kind of spare 2, sell it 3, rip the frets out of it Having never tried a fretless I'm not sure about number 3 but at the same time very intrigued Help
Lozz196
Having a backup is always useful. You never know when a pot on your main bass may start playing up, or worse, a bass gets stolen or knackered in a bar-fight/car-crash.
discreet
If you've still got your Shuker Jazz, then sell the Warwick. No point having it collecting dust otherwise. PS: I've started contradicting everything Lozz says, have you noticed??

Grangur
Having got used to the Shuker and the bb2004 will you ever pick up the Rockbass without feeling it's not really at the level you're used to? If you have 2 already how much do you need the Rockbass as a spare?
Fat Rich
Sell the Rockbass, buy a cheap fretless Ripping frets out doesn't always end well.
badboy1984
Always have around 2 bass similar for backup purpose. Sell or rip the frets out is up to you, i personally would sell and scout around for a fretless.
chilievans
hmmm So defretting seems out then
chilievans
I've had a look at a few threads on defretting and it doesn't look too hard
Matt P
I'd go for trading it for a fretless if that's what you want, especially if you could get one of the cheaper Yamaha bb fretless basses. Failing that what about stringing it differently, B-D maybe or with nylon flats for a different tone. Matt
chilievans
Interesting idea Matt More food for thought
jezzaboy
Man up and rip the frets out if you dont need the cash from a sale. It might send you down a different road....And is dead easy to do. After all, it`s only a Rockbass, what have you got to lose

chilievans
Well it only cost me £150 so I think I'll go for it How hard can it be ;-)

Lets just say a car crash would have been more effective...
Black Coffee
My attempt at defretting ended up a train wreck. Trade for a fretless and avoid the "i wish i hadnt started this" line of thought. Mine was only a cheap esp but its now only fit for firewood. Dont wana get into how it ended badly but it started good and went downhill too far in too stop. If you wana try something different, defret carefully from 12th fret up to 24 or however high it goes then you have a hybrid.

Smythe
Leave a fret removal to a professional. Get a squire jazz fretless or a yamaha rbx fretless. Won't cost you any more than £300.
