AngelLaHash
I got two Diodes i dont have a clue what they are one has no Markings and to me more looks like a FUSE and the Other has a 4 (open on its side), then 91, and then has a 4 on its own the 4 on its side photo is too Poor
paul_5
Top ones are germanium diodes, they've got arsenic inside them so be a bit careful with them. If you can get a multimeter with a diode setting in it you can check the forward voltage, that should give you a bit more information to get a pisitive ID ob them. Gazm
Top one looks like a germanium diode, probably OA47 or 1N34A Bottom one might be a 1N40091

They might be 1N4914 silicon though, they're quite a common zener diode.
Beer of the Bass
I've got some old Germanium diodes that look a lot like the top photo, and I've used a couple of them in a Superfuzz clone. They work well as clipping diodes in pedals, as they seem to clip in a softer way than silicone diodes, though you end up with lower output due to the lower forward voltage. Also, I wonder if the ones with the 91 might be OA91? Edited April 21, 2013 by Beer of the Bass
paul_5
Ooh, a mystery. We love it! Edited April 21, 2013 by paul_5
bartelby
The bottom ones are 1n914. I've received a bunch 3 days ago. Top ones look like 1N34 Germanium diodes Edited April 21, 2013 by bartelby
AngelLaHash
never used the Diode bit of the Meter before (only for as continuity testing on some meters) 2nd Diode with the 914 has a reading of 840-837 dont know what that means personaly <ive got a Transistor part on my meter too> I looked up the IN914 and some photos and this is the sidewards 4 marking i have on mine ---------- The Germamium ones have a reading of 365, and i think it is a Germamium, i was reading about Fuzz Pedals at one point and do recall wanting some of these Edited April 21, 2013 by AngelLaHash
BILL POSTERS
Top ones will be generic OA90s, OA91s, or something similar, tbh in practice a germanium diode, was agermanium diode. Even Mullard OA91s used to vary quite a bit anyway, so I'd just treat them as that. if your using pairs, try and match the forward resistances. The others wil be 1N914 as has already been said, similar to 1N4148s.
