Just been looking at the new musicman sabres and found this video, thought I'd share it here see what opinions were

Those sabre basses are sweet, but for me they have such beautiful tops that the pick guard just hides to much, that would be off straight away.

100%, look at the Sledge Ray and Sabre basses that are just out, what a stunning finish, to me anyway, in both cases why would you hide a finish that sweet under a bit of black plastic, get em off!

Love the look of the Sabre, but not a single tone in that vid appealed to me.

I like it to sound a bit warmer if I'm honest, sort of in between Louis Johnson and Bernard Edwards

I've been interested in hearing how the new ones sound and that demo wasn't particularly useful. It would have been nice to hear the instrument properly - too much hyperspeed clicky slapping to appreciate it fully. Even his finger-style and pick runs were spattered with too many ghost notes.

A little more 'show' and less 'ing off' would be appreciated in such vids - I'd love to hear Ed Friedland reviewing one.
