gjones
Oh sh1t! I've got to learn that for a dep gig! Is it that bad? Also, Forget You by Ce-Lo Green. I was happily bouncing along on that simple riff when it goes to the other extreme! I actually had to sit down and concentrate on that!
Don't worry. The chorus has an unnecessarily busy bassline. The song will probably sound better if you simplify it.
Cameronj279
Karnivool - new day. For such a spacious sounding song there is far too much going on for me to handle.
White Cloud
Don't laugh...but experience has taught me that Sweet Home Alabama is easy to play, but much harder to play in an extremely tight fashion. I have to employ a fair bit of damping and ghost notes to be on the money with that bad boy...not so easy when singing simultaneously. 4 Strings
ALRIGHT NOW soooo many people play what they think they remember
+1 - or think they can play it at all. This is a very classy bass track I have NEVER seen it played properly.
essexbasscat
I had to learn Madness' House of Fun for a pantomine pit band a couple of years back, that is a serious bass line.
+1 definately

BILL POSTERS
Never really managed to crack this, at least not so I'm happy to gig it. Not that its complicated, just cant get the right feel if you see what I mean. Dave Vader
Just been working on We Close Our Eyes by Go West. I never knew there was so much in there! I should have realised PP wasn't going to make it that simple. Just the chorus to go now!
I did that one a couple of years ago, hard isn't it? Even worse, after a couple of run throughs in rehearsal, the singist decided we weren't going to do it after all. *angry face*
bassace
When you're playing covers and relying on your ears you can easily get tripped up when songs that seem simple can have subtle differences between each of the choruses. A good example is Fever, that I used to play on upright. Listen carefully to that and hear the differences, and I don't just mean the semitone lifts. Dave Vader
Oh, I remember, Party Fears 2, by the associates. Might not be as bad as I remember, but I remember it being a bugger to work out.

hamfist
Don't laugh but The main intro riff of London's Calling by the Clash is surprisingly tricky to pull off rhythmically and feel-wise. I thought it was going to be a piece of p1ss to learn, but I still have to concentrate a little bit extra when playing it. Still not sure whether to play the last note on the G or D string. dougal
+1 for Oliver's Army. Such an iconic bassline you have to get it right.
Muzz
Have discussed You Can Call Me Al at length elsewhere - mind you, I thought it'd be a bit of a bugger before I started, and again, it's a mare to pull off with a 4-piece. I Am The Resurrection is another one of those iconic ones you have to get dead right, and the song itself goes on and on and on...over 8 minutes' worth... seashell
Came across this thread while looking for something else. Lola by the Kinks - everyone in the band thinks they know it, but when it comes to doing it, no one can agree what bit comes where Days by the Kinks is also another favourite for that to happen
Ha ha, I had a very similar experience with Lola. Very tricky, and the band were all arguing about how it goes! :-)
W11ATO
Couple of Go West nods in the thread......we close out eyes isn't hard to work out but it's a bloody big stretch if you play it in A#.. We do that and Call Me.....now that is a bugger to play :-

Nibody
Barracuda by heart. Timing is a git, specially when you have two guitarists who were fantastic but just couldn't get this right so it throws you.
