I've been to three Francis Dunnery house concerts, they're really good fun.

This has been going on since time began. The only difference is maybe that it is being made professional. Our jazz band do an annual 'at home' gig as a fund raiser, we've played at private parties in 'front rooms' too. It is another way to help professional musicians though.

I guess they need to be mostly acoustic sets..... can just imagine the neighbour complaints if all the band whack up their amps and PA's

Unfortunately, Edinburgh council is clamping down on them, even though the ones have been to haven't really caused any bother to anyone (or less than your average student saturday night flat party, anyway).
