BassBus Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 What do you think of this? I think it is just the best version I have heard. Even brings a tear to one man's eyes. Go to 4.00 for the start. Watch without prejudice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms7yD5SJ5RY Quote

karlfer Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Saw this before Christmas, just amazing. Loved Heart since Dreamboat Annie, done Crazy On You on and off for over 30 years. Alone is still one of the best pop/rock ballads EVER done! Quote
KiOgon Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) Who's that on Jimmy's left? Edit: It was David Letterman Just think the original & best of course was a 3 piece band + singer, how many was that? Good though Edited April 27, 2013 by KiOgon Quote
visog Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) Anne Wilson does a pretty good Robert Plant - screeches and inflections... Obviously Zep was a big influence... Bet the Zeps were delighted to hear this again... Edited April 27, 2013 by visog Quote
Paul S Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Wow. This is still the definitive version, though. Topical, too: http://youtu.be/5NMzuQFHJVU Quote
BassBus Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013
Robert Plant...
Is that not the guy who did some backing vocals for Alison Kraus recently. Quote

Great cover though! Quote
lowdown Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 She still looks and sounds great at 62 ! Garry Quote
Deep Thought Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 That is pretty damn impressive-the thing that amazes me though, is how can she get up onstage under all those bloody lights in a great big fur coat? Quote
Roland Rock Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I must admit I was cynical, but, wow. Epic and flawless Quote
apa Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Well I reckon that was pretty dire! Sorry but Heart did the first bit and the last but all the rest was done by a cast of thousands. It was more west end show than rock and roll. To cap it all you have an audience of penguins gently nodding thier heads to one of the greatest, most powerfull rock tunes ever written. Never been a fan of Heart as such but yes 'Alone' is brilliant. Great song and boy can they sing etc. Nah sorry A Quote
skychaserhigh Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Awesome , imagine performing that in front of the Zep boys ? Thats some pressure ! Quote
paulconnolly Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Pretty sure Plant and JPJ turned to each other and said WOW! whent the choir was revealed in all its glory near the end. You could also see that Page was playing the solo in his head. Overall it certainly looks like they were impressed. Quote
chrismuzz Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 That was truly amazing, I couldn't stop myself from smiling when it got to the end. Thanks for sharing!! Quote
paulconnolly Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Well yeah, but really if it was good enough for Page, Plant and Jones then it's good enough for anyone Quote
thunderbird13 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 That was quite good - I've never rated Robert Plant so when you have someone who can sing really makes a difference, the choir bit I could do without TBH , I think it takes away the simplicity of the song. Was it me or did the gutiarist miss out a bit in the solo ? Quote
