thisnameistaken Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Nice! I bloody love trombone. I've got two but I don't practise enough so I'm terrible. I actually think I first bought a fretless because I liked trombone so much, and I find my phrasing on double bass is very trombone-y. I suppose it's from growing up with my mum's music (Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller) and my brother's music (Rico with The Specials) and then when I started playing bass I heard a lot of Fred Wesley with the various funk outfits he played with. It's one of my favourite sounds and if I'd had any sort of natural ability with brass instruments (I've discovered I don't) I would probably be playing that instead of bass. Quote
risingson Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Cool clip. The thing is that Trombone is incredibly hard to play especially in a Jazz situation, rarely do you hear a Trombone player blasting quickly over changes and the ones that do are absolute monster players. Underrated instrument I reckon. Quote
