Billy Apple
As an antidote to the most ugly bass thread, I'm taking subscriptions for the most beautiful bass ever. I'm voting for the Gibson Thunderbird. Designed by Ray H. Dietrich it embodies the optimism of late 50's Americana. Sat in my living room it looks like a rocket-ship waiting for somewhere to go, and when I strap it on, I'm the Captain baby! Knocks all others into a cocked hat

Truckstop
I think the Yamaha Super BB range (BB424x etc) are the best looking basses on the planet right now. Just so sexy! The right mix of vintage and modern and sound awesome. That and Ibanez Blazers! Truckstop

xgsjx
I was gonna suggest there shouldn't be any Fenders in here. As nice as [s]some[/s] any of the basses above are, none of them would get on my top 10. I haven't got a suggestion as there's a few I really like with equal measures. molan
If the OP is looking for the single most beautiful bass ever doesn't it have to be a full custom build that's a 'one of a kind' - otherwise it's just a bass that's very nice indeed but looks almost identical to a lot of other basses? This would, therefore, exclude almost all Fenders, Gibsons, Rickenbackers etc. Obviously individual beauty will be in the eye I the beholder but if something looks near identical to many other basses it's not really going to be THE most beautiful bass ever Edited April 28, 2013 by molan

I haven't followed the story of the design and production so I don't know if they're available to buy. I'm not familiar with Les Claypol's music but a few people have said it sounds like Stump, so I should check it out I suppose.
