Here's for sale the last of my "straight" basses, for I fell in love with my Dingwall Sklar and it came natural playing only and always that one (and a Dingwall Super P has just been ordered)!

This is a 1979 Fender Jazz Bass (serial S885.... could be '78 but pots and P/U stamped early '79 ).
I got it from a trade more than a year ago; at the time I owned a '66 Dots& Bindings JB but, when this neglected '79 came home, I found I liked its voice more than the old '66, which soon I decided to sell (call me crazy, but that's the truth)!

I'll immediately tell you about the negative things:
- 1 pot not original;
- 1 neck screw not original;
- no OHSC;
- body lacquer finish no longer shiny, probably due to cleaning with aggressive products by previous owner;
- heavy weight (I'll be more precise, but very likely over 5 kg).

Here are some pictures:

But I think there are positive things too:
- the bass is a great player and slapper (but don't ask me slap samples 'cause I'm a goat);
- great variety of tones, full and rich voice.
- perfectly working "electronics".
- perfect neck, straight as an arrow and with very low action;
- since it's not a collector item, you won't be afraid to take it out for gigs and really play it;
- at almost the price of an american reissue, you get a better sounding bass that probably won't loose its value in the future.

I'm afraid this is the only vid I recorded with the bass:

Requested Price: 1.250 £ (or 1.450 €) - Free Shipping in Europe (Ritter Gig Bag).

If suitable, I can also provide a good selection of new strings at very reasonble price (DR, the best for this bass IMHO, Fodera and Elixir): I will use them nomore with my Dingwall basses...

No trade, please.

Feel free to contact me for everything!

Bump for this beauty!
I was really interested in this bass as I have been looking for vintage JB currently. Alessio answered all my questions and sent me plenty of photos. As far as I got to know him, he is a kind of punctual and credible person. By the way, he plays the bass far better than lots of us :) I was about to make the deal, however, my heart said no eventually. The thing is I prefer sunburst colour.
