untune
For myself and Risingson mainly http://warp.net/reco...morrows-harvest I can honestly say I've never been more excited for an album release in my life Edited April 30, 2013 by untune
xilddx
Thought Blue Oyster Cult was what you meant, they haven't made a decent album since Cultosaurus Erectus. Anyway, had a listen to Boards of Canada just now because of this thread, and I find I'm a bit mesmeralized by it. I'd not heard them before. This is what I found on YT, the video really got me as well, seemed to fit beautifully even though it's done by a fan. Top stuff man. dannybuoy
Ah, so we know the name of it now at least! After a baffling April 1st 'joke' announcement from a third party that there will be a new album, which angered many fans (http://www.factmag.com/2013/04/02/when-fans-attack-the-best-and-worst-reactions-to-yesterdays-boards-of-canada-hoax) they last week they started revealing cryptic clues including an advert on The Cartoon Network of all places. Roland Rock
I have the 'Music has the right to Children' album, but definitely need to be in the right mood for it. This clip that Warp posted on FB is pretty avant garde, but I like it in a David Lynch soundtrack kind of way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2lyYEUPat8
dannybuoy
Just been listening to some BOC and noticed Happy Jack's avatar goes great with these two: Edited April 30, 2013 by dannybuoy

Anyway, let's not derail this BOC thread
Cosmo Valdemar
I thought Blue Oyster Cult too... I only know Boards of Canada from the Salad Fingers cartoons.
risingson
I've been waiting for this release for 7 years Untune! I've followed what's been going on, the uber-fans on the forums have been going mental trying to crack codes and mathematical equations, I've just sat back and waited for the release announcement from Warp For those who might be unfamiliar with Boards of Canada, they took their name from the National Film Board of Canada, when they were young they emigrated from Scotland to Canada and were inspired by the scratchy warmth of the soundtracks that accompanied a lot of the films. They're known to sample number stations as well in their earlier work amongst a load of other things. Really psychedelic and always interesting to listen to, they're considered to be pioneers in electronic music.
spongebob
...another here who thought it was Blue Oyster Cult! Surely there's only one real BOC?

After such a long wait they had to make an entrance and I think they've managed it in a way only they could I've already pre-ordered both the CD and the vinyl... which leaves me just more than a month to find myself a decent turntable, amp and hi fi speakers. untune
Also it has impressed me how many people it has drawn together so quickly, all working together to solve the puzzle
RandomBass
Blue Oyster Cult here too lol
BassTractor
BOC here too, indeed. But of course that's only because some people will do anything to get BoC heard, even if it involves identity theft, knowing perfectly well the police lack the capacity right now. Like the music though. BoC seem to always deliver, whilst never being sensational. (whilst BOC were sensationally undelivering often, imho) Jack's avatar is one of very few animated avatars I haven't blocked - probably because Jack is so impressively elegant in that suit. best, bert
