cocco Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Where's the best place to get them from? Edited May 6, 2013 by cocco Quote
Junkyard Rocket Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Never used springs for a P bass. Rubber foam weatherstrip is what Fender use Allparts sell bits cut to size http://www.allparts....ups-p-3568.html I made some from a 50p ikea mousemat & carpet tape for one of my Precisions Edited May 7, 2013 by Junkyard Rocket Quote

cocco Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Hmm, if springs aren't the answer, what is the best material to put behind the pickups? My fretless build is nearly finished! Literally all that's missing is a good pickup height. Quote
bassmachine2112 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 [sub]biro pens are good-sorry ball point pens or mouse mats anything spongy[/sub] Quote
hamfist Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I like using pieces of the grey water pipe insulation. It's cylindrical with a longitudinal split up the side. Hope you can understand what I mean. it's the perfect resistance for a pickup IMO. Quote
Grand Wazoo Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I've mentioned this in another thread go to your local hardware store and get two or four small rubbber grommets they are used in plumming don't ask me in what application, and put the screw through them, they are better than springs Quote
johnnyleaf Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Very helpfull topic, just ripped our fish tank air pump apart for the rubber gromits as shown by Grand Wazoo, this topic bought me to this very helpfull and interesting site. Thanks Quote
Horizontalste Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I've used grey sanding blocks in the past, just cut it to size & remove the rough stuff. Quote
