Shockwave Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Hey guys. Just recorded my first live rough as heck demo with my new stoner/prog/rock band. One take only. Gibson Grabber with the pup slid to the neck. Sansamp VT bass Deluxe Power amp Hi-watt 1x15 2x10. Everything mic'd up. I am also doing lead vocals (They are terrible I know my first time, but no one else in the band wanted to do it.) We are tuned drop C, somethings up with my tuning/intonation as the bass sounds a little flat. Otherwise I love my tone. https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/oubliette?in=chinspinner/sets/demo https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/stereobeard https://soundcloud.com/chinspinner/hamfist What say you guys? I'll be honest, it might not sound brilliant, but I am bloody proud of it, never thought I could get in front of a mic and belt it out and get something close to the tone that I want. Quote
dannybuoy Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Not bad! I like the fact that the vocals don't sound like typical stoner rock and sound more like Zack De La Rocha, especially in the first one! I will say the bass is way too loud though compared to the guitars though, especially since the bass has quite a mid-present clank. I know we as bass players like to be heard but I think you overpower the mix a bit here! Quote

Never have I heard myself on a recording before so pretty chuffed! We got some radio play recently and things are looking up! Quote
