Any ideas on a good squelchy filter al la Bootsy/ 70's disco style.....cheap!, in a single pedal form, not multi FX, a tall order i know, but its gotta be cheap i cant afford much at all!

Look for a used Maxon AF-9! It's the closest thing I've found to an original Mutron III. I'm considering getting one as a back up for my Mutron. It's awesome!!

Thanks dude, found one on ebay but still way expensive for what i need, is there like a behringer version or some such, i wouldnt normally scrimp on fx but wont use it much?

BSW is ok, but there's better out there. Next best thing after the Mutron and Meatball for not a lot of dough is a DOD FX25 or an EHX Q-Tron. Also very good but more subtle and less squelchy are the Boomstick Bottom Feeder or Emma Discombobulator.
