Searches for some of my own For Sale posts show nothing.

That should be working? Try navigating from your profile page and look at posts/topics under the 'overview'

Use the "Site:" feature of google.

I just did a search for 'fretmeister' posts in the Marketplace forums and found three pages of entries.
Seems to be working OK.
