Lynottfan Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 WHAT?? Marcus there is no hope for you boy! Status Kingbass hummmmm, I had the pleasure of the company of a retroglide for a very short while and it is a mega bass, Matt the owner at the time found it highly amusing that I busted out my pick and played the boys are back in town on it, not a single slap from me !! Good luck mate.
marcus bell Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Just trading my way back to the top Pictures shortly This IS NOT a bump by the way
marcus bell Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 the kingbass for me is one of my ultimate dream basses along with the jaydee, i used to have one but had to sell to get a car not cool! been buying, selling, trading etc to get back up to the value of one again, if this sells cash ill be ordering a new kingbass, or someone may want a trade...hmmmm
NJE Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 (edited) I am sure more than a few of us have got a new bass, thought it was the best thing ever and then realised that its not what we really want after the honeymoon period has worn off. Beautiful bass, I really want an early 90's Stingray at the moment, got my eye on a few but this is the cleanest one I have seen so far. It looks almost new. Good luck, I hope you manage to get your Status and that it is all you want it to be. Edited May 10, 2013 by NJE

molan Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 You know what they say. . . Never go back Especially to a Kingbass
marcus bell Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 I just really want one again, shame my previous encounter was cut short :/
4 Strings Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013
I just really want one again, shame my previous encounter was cut short :/
As is a Kingbass! Goodness, all that pining. Although I suppose as a cynical marketing move getting us all to say wonderful things about how good a Stingray is, and then all 'wow' about the beauty you have here, and then pop it up for sale is pretty cute! However, I'm sure you're cute in different ways and certainly not cynical, good luck with the sale, I hope you get what you want, the pearl of great price. I notice the SUB has gone too, poor Leo! I am genuinely envious of this bass. Btw, how would you describe the thickness (front to back) of the neck compared to the SUB?
martthebass Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 How could anyone want a Kingbass over a Stingray? It's the ergonomic disaster of the Status family. Then again my favourite status is the Stealth so what do I know ;-)
marcus bell Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 The neck is a little thicker than the sub, the sub being extremely thin both in width and depth, I think this is just as thin in depth but wider in width If that makes sense , I wish I could keep it and build up cash for a Kingbass but it would just take too long
paulmcnamara Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) Sometimes wishes should be just that......... But good luck with the sale; it looks a super finish. Edited May 11, 2013 by paulmcnamara
cloudburst Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited) It's a bit difficult to tell from the pics - what is the finish on the neck? Is it like the early glossy finish or the later satin and wax finish? And do you have the original E tuner? CB Edited May 11, 2013 by cloudburst
Apothem Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 (edited)
It's a bit difficult to tell from the pics - what is the finish on the neck? My '89 is glossy, while a '90 I used to have already had a satin/wax board. The back of the neck remained glossy though, at least for another couple of years. Edited May 12, 2013 by Apothem
marcus bell Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 I didn't know that! Thanks for that dude, hopefully clears up any queries for people interested
marcus bell Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Think my pricing may have been a little optimistic, taking £100 off now £950
AndyTravis Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 This would be mine in a heartbeat given the funds. It's sodding gorgeous.
