foxthebiker
Morning! Has anybody tried Black Diamond strings? What did you think? Good value or not? Did they sound good / last well? My local dealer has these in stock but cannot find any reviews of these here. He seems to have a lot of these in stock and are priced at £29.99 so not cheap then! I reckon he has had a special purchase of these and not sold any since he has asked me to report back if I try them and let him know what I think? Hmmmm. Jazz Chrome flatwounds! IMO these strings are horrible , the A string was kinked when I took it out of the packet and the strings were so rough they felt like roundwounds , they looked kind of like them too. Soundwise they had no thump and sounded like dead roundwounds rather than flats. The tension also seemed high for the gauge.

I actually took a look at these today and I have to agree, I initially thought they were round wounds n ot flats! I will not be stringing up with these then. Many thanks for the heads up. Owe you drink I think....
squire5
I seem to remember our guitarist using Black Diamond strings as a sort of 2nd rate standby, but that was back in the late 60s.They weren't too highly thought of then. But maybe things have improved since then.
