onemanband
Hi, just thought this might be interesting, although of couse, music is very subjective. On my way to a gig tonight, on the radio I heard "Eight Days A Week" recorded years ago by Alma Cogan, possibly the worst cover I've ever heard and I've heard a few Beatles tunes destroyed!! So, what do you think??
flyfisher
Is this even open to opinion? I thought the question was settled a while back . . . . http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/2995901.stm
BetaFunk
I always liked Alma Cogan and always thought that at least she made the song totally different to the original. She was friends with the Fab Four so i wonder what they thought of it? This is one of my favourite Fabs covers............ http://youtu.be/1yJajJ_B5R4

Hobbayne
Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders did a terrible version of Help! - but I think it was for comic relief so it probably doesnt count.
Thanks for posting that, never heard it before but it's a gem, soooo funny!!; I thought the thread might throw up a few classics like this, similar to Peter Sellers "Hard Days Night". Personally I don't mind these humorous sorts of covers; I just hate covers what are meant to be serious "alternative" versions but just destroy the songs. skankdelvar
Amidst the utter ghastliness that was the movie 'All This And World War Too' (WW2 historical footage with a Beatles soundtrack), Frankie Valli's evisceration of A Day In The Life eclipses The Quo's strangled rendition of 'Getting Better' by a nose. Don't listen to this below. It is some minutes of your life you will never have again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbHKwynq86o Musical co-conspirators The Bee Gees went on to star in another Beatles-related stinker, the Sgt Pepper movie with Frampton as Billy Shears, IIRC. By far the worst Beatles can be found in the recent BBC documentary on the (re)making of the Please Please me album. With one exception they are all absolutely terrible. Cat Burrito
When I was at school I suggested a Beatles cover for our band & was met with the usual muso snobbery. "You just don't touch the Beatles" the guitarist told me. Amazed by this stance I suggested he didn't even know anything about the band. His reply still haunts me to this day. "Yeah I do, it's George Lennon and that!"

Allow for newer members
+1 .....and i don't think that a poll conducted by a digital tv channel is ever going to come up with the definitive answer. If we can include non recorded versions then I'd say I've been responsible for playing some utterly forgettable Beatles covers in various bands.
