Hi all

Up for sale is my gorgeous Piano Black + maple fretboard Dingwall Super J4. I like Dingwalls so much I bought another Super J4 with a morado fretboard. So, I need to fund the new purchase with selling this one! (I'm also GASing for a Super P, though that will have to wait for a little while...)

An extremely versatile bass which does the crispy Marcus Miller sound extremely well, as well as the typical Jazz Bass tones. The Aguilar OBP-1 preamp is installed. This is an earlier model (2006) where the battery lives under the pickguard instead of a compartment at the back.

It has been recently set up by Chris McIntyre of McIntyre Guitars (http://www.mcintyreguitars.com) with Dingwall Super J steel roundwounds. Light action with very little relief. I also had him install a string retainer at the headstock. An incredibly well built and solid feeling instrument.

Frets and neck in excellent condition, electronics in full working order, and comes with a SKB hardcase an additional tort pickguard if you prefer it. Myself, I prefer the white pearloid (as I also have on my new Dingwall) but you may wish to change things around. The new pearloid pickguard was not cheap (ordered from Dingwall in Canada).

The Dingwall logo at the headstock has abraded in one small area, and there is a single ding at bottom end of the bass (near the bridge). Very hard to see in the flesh though I think have managed to illuminate it well enough to photograph; there is one photo with a close-up of the bridge where you can see it.

A review of a similar bass (with maple fretboard) can be found at http://www.vintagegu...gwall-super-j/.

I regularly play my Dingwall alongside my non-fanned fret basses and I find no issue swapping between the two. I didn't have any issue getting used to the frets when I first bought the Dingwall either.

The specs:

Alder body, 8 lbs (according to my bathroom scales)

Maple neck with lacquered maple fretboard

Phenolic nut, 1.5"

Countersunk custom Hipshot Tuners with De-Tuner

Scalloped headstock

Dingwall/Hipshot locking bridge, 19mm spacing

Novax fanned fret system, 32" - 34.25"

Dunlop Straplocks installed (I have also included the original strap buttons)

Aguilar OBP-1 preamp with hybrid treble boost/passive cut on same knob. Active/passive switch.

Humcancelling Dingwall pickups

Rotary pickup selector: front pickup only, both pickups in series, both pickups in parallel, rear pickup only

The original Dingwall tag with bass info and serial number

SKB case included

Adjustment tools included (one hex wrench missing though as it never came with it when I bought it)
I have done my best to photograph the black colour, which is stunning. You'll see a few reflections of childrens toys and my clothes....

[s]£1550 shipped in the UK.[/s] SOLD. No trades...unless you have a Dingwall Super P4.

PM me with questions if you've got them!

Pete

Hi,

Would you ship this to Northern Ireland?
Yep, no worries, I don't see a problem with that.
