David Axelrod - who played bass?

I have just discovered an artist that was previously unknown to me (although the style sounds hauntingly familiar). Anyone know who played bass on these recordings?

Both Song Of innocence & Songs Of Experience are great albums. Other albums like The Big Country, Heavy Axe, Earth Rot, Requiem: The Holocaust & Mass In F Minor (The Electric Prunes) are not as good but interesting as are the David McCallum albums released in the late 60s.

A younger generation discovered Axelrod some years ago through his samples on (amongst others) DJ Shadow records and he also had a cd released in 2001 on MoWax.

Cheers for the info guys! B)

I love that style of bass playing. Very similar to some of the Scott Walker stuff. For example:

The bass playing stands out all through 'Scott 4'. I've never found out who played bass on the session even though the question crops up now and then on both Scott Walker and Bass forums and even long before the internet.
Because Scott played bass it's often said that he played on it but the way that recording worked in those days i would doubt it. I would have thought he was too busy with his singing and composing duties. Wally Stott orchestrated Scott 4 and there have been various names of session mentioned over the years.
