Dave Vader
http://plasticsquirrel.bandcamp.com/album/political-correctness-gone-trad-ep Here we go, my friend Joe challenged me to write a folk album with the title Political Correctness gone trad, and I started well and wrote a couple of songs that fit the theme. I then got bored made it into an EP and added 2 of the most ridiculous and unimaginative songs I have ever written into it as well. It is quite funny though, and as an exercise in learning Reaper, and using my new home-made vocal booths and other bizarre toys, it was fun to do. Have a listen, it'll stream for nothing, and the download is only 50p if you fancy a punt.
Skol303
Dave, this brightened up my day right from the off with 'This is a Song' Only listened through it on my phone thus far but it sounds great. Did you play all the instrumentation yourself? Damn impressive if so. Love the humour. Had Mrs Skol sat next to me listening to it and she was chuckling away too... 'Cat on the Sofa' being a firm fave here. Some great lines in 'Political Correctness' too. If this is trad folk, then I'm a fan. Nice one mate! (PS: banjos need no apologies). Dave Vader
Cheers Paul, yep played everything myself in my cramped little garage studio. Mostly because I am supposed to be taking it apart and sorting through the crap before we move house in a month or so. Cat on the Sofa has been a family favourite since I made it up whilst pissed in the kitchen with the wife and kiddies last summer. Glad it is spreading around. Maybe i should just go with the stupid throwaway stuff and stop trying to write proper songs. Thanks for the love Paul.
flyfisher
Very good - liked the 'folk vibe'! I've done a similar thing for a friend who plays risque originals on a ukelele under the "George Pornby" pseudonym. He wanted to record something and I wanted the production practice so we made a CD as a bit of light relief. Mind you, it often goes down better than our 'serious' band originals. http://www.reverbnation.com/johnbell/songs (NB: 'Grace Darling' is not one of mine)

Not that close at all thank god. Reminds me of a Hale and Pace sketch from years ago where they do a cliched musical in about 2 minutes. (Which I did rip off a bit) Like George Pornby so far, decently funny.

paul_5
Love it. Reminds me of Mitch Benn's output on the Now Show.

It was inspired by a true incident - the second verse about a guy in a pub taking exception to my friend's tee-shirt and really did slap him around the face!
