Great keyboard player and the bass behind the Doors (Fender Rhodes Piano Bass) RIP.

What a song, I hear that intro and get shivers, every time. RIP

Me too, it's definitely one to raise the hairs on the back of your neck.
Sorry to hear that Ray has passed on.
RIP.

RIP Ray. The Doors changed my life, many years ago.

(Don't forget Doug Lubahn's bass work, mind. They asked him to join, IIRC, and he turned them down...)

Ray was an amazing musician, and a part of one the greatest and most unique sounding bands of all time. It is a sad day 😔 and a great loss. For such an acplished musician and rock star, he always just seemed so humble whenever I saw him interviewed... RIP Mr Manzerek

The sound of the doors in the 60's along side Jim Morrison.

The team I work with interviewed him for a doc that will come out next year. Very sad.

I'll always remember this clip of Ray with Adam and Joe

Hated the doors when I was a kid ( except riders single). Thought they sounded too dated. Years later I actually like a few songs now .
Think Ray was the most talented in the band. Definitely , one of the greates keyboard people of all time . Sad loss .rip

I was fortunate enough to see him play with Robby Krieger (though Densmore had bowed out by that stage) doing their Doors thing about 10 years ago, can't remember who did vocals (wasn't Astbury) but it was a great show. I'm sure all the keyboard players in the various Doors tribute acts around the world will be paying special tributes to the man at their next shows. Not only an excellent player but always came across as quite humble and personable when interviewed. Another sad day for music.

Great musician, great band - and always came across like a very nice guy as well.

Ray will never be 74 - 74! The music is simply timeless.

I used to play in a Doors tribute band, so had to work out bass (or my interpretation) to many of the tracks. Really fun to play, just great stuff.
