ChickenKiev
..I'll just ask anyway, and if anyone can link me to a previous topic then it's all good. Okay, so I'm planning on starting a custom bass project within the next two months. I am going to take a MiM Fender Jazz bass and change a few things; be they for the benefit of the sound of the bass (new pickups are always an option) or just for aesthetics and personal preference. I was planning on picking up a reverse-style neck from somewhere like Warmoth. So this leads me to my question, if anyone can tell what's coming: Okay, I was eying up Fender decals for the potential neck, and was wondering if this is allowed really, or am I going to get in some serious crap from my fellow musicians if I put a Fender decal on an unofficial neck? One thing I'd like to add before I hear peoples' opinions. Please bare in mind that I will never ever sell any of my basses, this custom project included, so don't worry about me tryin to rip somebody of on eBay or anything. I just want to know if it was acceptable to decal a fake neck or if its just one of those unwritten laws between respectable musicians . Cheers, Kiev. Musky
A slightly different twist on the same theme. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/201662-decal-or-no Plenty of opinions to keep you going in there!
ChickenKiev
Thanks lol. I think my mind was made up with to begin with really. I was always going to put a decal on there, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get told off if I posted the results of my customisation on basschat . Musky
I wouldn't worry about it. I think Warmoth parts are licensed by Fender in any case.
