The penny dropped with Rosin by thinking about it in a similar way to using a choke on an engine ...you need a quite a bit on a cold day to get the engine ( bow ) to tick over but once its warm you don't need to apply any more . On a warm day you don't need much rosin (if at all) and if you rosin up too much its like flooding the engine - you can play through the over rosining or wipe it off ( a bit like repeatedly pulling the start cord on a lawn mower to bleed the engine).

Thanks for the post Floyd ...looking forward to the comparison of Bernadel with your Kolsteins ?!! :P

Good post Floyd. The 'less is more' approach to rosin is something I've discovered late in my bass playing life, and it's good advice I'd wished I'd heard long ago. Still using sticky old Pop's rosin at the mo tho....

Great! Just thought it was an easier way to say "LESS IS MORE..." However, if your bow needs the rosin don't be scared to apply!
Also, I think it sounds better coming from a bass virtuoso than little olde mee :D

Keep pluckin'!

Well...couldnt resist and I got some Bernadel ....first impressions are 10/10 ! Its a really 'clean' rosin - no claggy grip or powdery skid ...just right and quite simple to find the bow tension ( today anyway !).

For £10 incl delivery can't go wrong!
