Mr. Foxen Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 He also appears to have put the binging all the way around instead of stopping at the neck block. Also, good thing you didn't post pictures in this thread. Quote
RhysP Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Pickups & (more importantly) inlays wrong for a 1969 4001? Quote
lojo Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Isn't that cheap considering the age of the instrument and the fact that Lemmy is a rock legend ? Was this passed to the BG by Lemmy or has it been previously owned? Im not interested in buying it , just puzzled Quote
Yes I saw that, but others had already mentioned this. Personally I think if a 4001 has a bolt on neck then it ain't a Rick, and you'd kind of hope that the people in The Gallery would know that too...... Quote
Gust0o Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Probably a step up from buying GG Allin's old microphone. Quote
Green Alsatian Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) The heel of the neck of a genuine one is flush with the back of the body for the through-neck. The heel of this one isn't and is clearly a bolt-on, rather than a later repair. Also, the neck pickup position is to far away from the end of the neck for a '69 - someone switch on the Hall-signal! Maybe they misheard 'Lenny' as 'Lemmy'. Edited June 1, 2013 by Green Alsatian Quote
we need the like button back for this one. And Lemmy used a fair few rickenfakers at one point, could well be his still. Hope John Hall tries to kill it though. Quote
geofio Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) Would not fancy any bass used by lemmy, he hammers his basses to destruction he had both his custom rics built up again as the headstock's were coming apart and the neck from the body!!!! Edited June 2, 2013 by geofio Quote

BetaFunk Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I'm sure i spotted someone using a bass as an oar in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkVQxVAY9zw&feature=share&list=PL7D90E04272D85504 Quote
karlfer Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) Has anybody had a chat with the Gallery about this? With respect, they [s]may not be the anoraks we are[/s], they might not have the accumulated knowledge we have. Had an interesting chat at the bar of the Rock Garden in Middlesbrough with the man himself. Remember him saying he used T Bird pick ups in one of his Rick copies Edited June 2, 2013 by karlfer Quote
bigsmokebass Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 No paperwork to authenticate it? Well, could be anyone's old 4001 BSB Quote
Billy Apple Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) The fact that London's supposed premier bass guitar shop could pass this off as a Rickenbacker reinforces my poor already opinion of the sales department at the Bass Gallery. Edited June 2, 2013 by Billy Apple Quote
spongebob Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I've never associated Lemmy with Jetglo - he was a Mapleglo man for years before the 4004LK's. I'm sure this post will be followed by a flurry of pictures showing Lem with a JG - but I've never seen one! You do see him playing a Fireglo in Lemmy - The Movie....looks quite strange! Quote
