Mmmm. Nice. First time Stingray owner?
[/quote]

No, this is my 3rd ray, 4th musicman.

I really want one of those.....

They're worth it. Really a thing of beauty.

My main bass at the moment is a Classic Ray, for live and studio. It sounds immense. The neck profile is perfect. Why they insist on having a different profile on the standard Ray is beyond me....

My previous stingrays were the modern incarnations, and I loved the sounds, just struggled with the feel of the neck.

This flatter profile is perfect for me.

The mutes are great fun too.

The Classics have a flatter neck profile? Hmm... this is intriguing, in a "Now I know what to ask Santa for" fashion

I didn't know that. Love the Rays, but sometimes the neck can be a bit much.

Stunning bass, very envious :)

The Classics have a rounder (smaller) radius on the fretboard in a vintage style (7.5 radius?).

Not sure if they're thinner across or front to back but the neck definitely feels smaller in the hand and very playable indeed. I had a 94 'Ray which felt too chunky and flat in the board. The eighties Ray's have thinner necks with smaller radius boards and feel great too. Don't know why they insist on making the modern stingrays chunky in the neck...

Had been debating a Stingray Classic or a Sabre. I ended up settling on this.

Andy, next time I'm in Manc I need to try that if it's around! Been gassing for a MM - love the Classics - but because of my worsening arm issues need to know whether the body will be ok for me and I haven't been able to find one close to home.

How have you been finding it compared to the normal 'Ray?

Hi mate, it's ace, it feels loads better (to me).

The squarer edge might just work for you.

Drop me a pm when you're heading in, and I'll have it with me.

I am finding my Classic a bit gutless, its certainly no match for a proper pre eb. Afaik the 2 band preamp has never changed since the last pre eb version with electrolytic caps but I am hoping a john east preamp will sort it out unless the pickup is naff?
