Guest Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Have a look at the Laney NX810. It's 100lb, can be bi amped 2x410's @ 8ohms or 810 @ 4oms. It's also sealed so it's very punchy with great mids. I love mine and get a kick every time I use it. Quote
Mog Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Just to add to the monitor thing, I dont use them unless I'm in a function room and I often choose to use IEMs in a function room. In a typical pub setting they're not required because (i) the bass should be audible on stage unless you are a country mile away from the speakers and (ii)I have learned the song beforehand and dont need to hear the bassline. JTUK Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Well, the question can be open to anyone... but if you aren't hearing the real interaction with the drums but assuming it..I would suggest it is very hard to be tight and deep without hearing it back. Of course, many bass players do well playing across the drums and leave it to the mix/engr....but that isn't 'in' the pocket to me.. If you rely on hearing the bass back from the FOH that may or may not work... but for me to play in the pocket, I've want to hear the drums and he wants to hear me. You may find a lot of pro drummers have side fills and some sort of bass box that they can feel...and that helps them play on a big stage. They virtually sit on it... I think ti is all about getting the sound back to you and then responding/playing to it. I can understand why people want a 810 as it will do this well on a stage...but I think it also might overpower pubs. Ultimately, it is all about control Quote
