xilddx
Im no fan of the floppy four but I've been told I'm influenced by them whether I realise it or not. So what album should I buy that I might dig on? I like Rush Hillage Zappa Rundgren and Satie. Does that help? Thanx x I will review the album I get Edited June 5, 2013 by xilddx
ead
I like the early stuff, but you may want to try the so called 'white album' or maybe Rubber Soul.
xilddx
Cool thanks. I don't want none of that love me do sh*t though
Dingus
Abbey Road , without a doubt , but Rubber Soul is good too . The White album has it's moments , but it's a bit patchy in places .
skankdelvar
Revolver. End of. Well, not the end of Revolver, all of it, obviously. Then Pepper. Then do what you like, it'll all be a disappointment, don't come crying to me. Whatever you do, don't shell out for Yellow Submarine. Ghastly.
No need to buy - due to their omniprescence you have already subconciously absorbed the entire Beatles back catalogue. Simply retrieve them via some kind of regression therapy. wateroftyne
'The Best of the Beatles' is my favourite.
thisnameistaken
Revolver is my favourite. It's got some of the cleverest pop tunes McCartney wrote, and some of the more experimental stuff, and the odd rocker, and a couple of sh*t Lennon tunes unfortunately but there you go, he was a Beatle so we just have to grin and bear it.
'The Best of the Beatles' is my favourite.
Jackanackanory! Hobbayne
Give Revolver a spin (Geddit?) It marks the transition from the disposable pop of the early days to the search for a different sound.
Dingus
Revolver is indeed also brilliant . Forgot about that one .
Twigman
I'd say any of Abbey road, Revolver, Rubber Soul, Sgt Pepper - they're all much of a muchness,,,,,,or any album by Oasis . HTH

Sgt Pepper suffers, I think, from being overly lauded as THE album that changed everything. it's good, but probably not THAT good. If I had to choose one album for my desert island I'd struggle to decide between the White album or Abbey Road. I reckon it would be Abbey Road by the slimmest of margins. BetaFunk
I told my therapist of my dislike of The Mopped Top sensations and he advised me to take each LP out of it's sleeve and launch them frisbee-like out of an upstairs window. They never come back you know.
Hobbayne
The song Yellow Submarine was recorded in 1966, MMT was recorded in 1967. They are both separate projects

xilddx
You will recognise more, I'm sure.......if not then where have you been all your life?
Mate, I heard the early lah lah stuff when I were a nipper, thought it was ok. Saw an interview when I was about 18 with Lennon lying on a bed with Yoko Ono, I thought he was a right c***, that was that, never wanted to hear them again. It's going to be a major obstacle to me being objective. I'm reading Howard Kaylan's autobiography at the moment, he describes when the Turtles met Lennon for the first time, the Beatles being their idols, and he was such an arsehole to them, to the guitarist in particular who was a bit in awe of them, that the guitarist ran out the restaurant and flew back to the States and never played music again. Lennon took the piss out of him so badly. So Lennon being a total c*** is a big issue for me. Downloading Revolver from iTunes as we speak. Surprised Yellow Submarine is on there for some reason.
