paulbass
Hi everyone, i've been wanting to get hold of a cheap bass and do it up for a bit of fun. I know a thing or two about wood, finishes and staining/painting but i'm not too clever on electrics but willing to have a go. The thing is what bass would you guys and gals recommend i get to do up? As i said i'm doing it for fun and intrigued what this bass will turn out like once finished. All suggestions welcome thanks!
Jimryan
My first mod project was a squier VM Precision. Nice weight, easy to source parts and easy on the wallet. My next project will be with a Squier Deluxe J. In my Opinion, squiers are pretty good for playing around with.
Lozz196
Agree, plus, being the most common bass types as well, there will be many different parts that can be obtained, so you`ll be able to really put your own mark on it.
Jack
Definitely a P or J shape. As has already been mentioned, you need custom parts in order to customise and there are LOADS of Fenderish and Fender replacement parts.
stoker
I've always thought that old OLP basses would be a good 'project' instument.
