Mornats
All quite highly regarded and going cheap: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=2604 and http://www.studiodevil.com/products/virtual_bass_amp_pro/ I got the Ampeg SVX in the same deal last year and it's fairly good although lately I've preferred a straight DI into my interface with some compression and EQ. NancyJohnson
I downloaded a 10 day trial of the Ampeg SVX plug in earlier today. It's really pretty impressive. I've generally recorded Sansamp BDDI>PreSonus>PC but quality of recording is dependent on so many factors. I've done a little experimenting this afternoon and it sounds pretty awesome, so much so that I'll probably buy the software and not try and find a crack for it. (Joking.) So many variables. Highly recommended. P
Mornats
I got mine for a bargainous £30 in a deal last year. It does a nice tube growl if you use the B15r head. It's tricky to get the levels right without distorting the sound if you use an active bass though.
Don't you simply adjust the level down in the soundcard or DAW mixer software or somewhere before going into the plug in ?
Mornats
Nah you have to record them really quiet so you'd be adjusting the input gain on the input device. The trouble is that if you want to just DI the bass or use other amp software your levels will be too low then.
