clashcityrocker Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I've never known anything about Warwicks or ever wanted to really but after a day of research I have just returned from a quick shopping trip, and now own one. It's a German made Corvette Active 5er in swamp ash, can't wait to plug it in tomorrow. Seems really well made and the adjustable nut and string spacing seems ingenious. Now,what does this fifth string do... Quote
discreet Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013
Now,what does this fifth string do..?
It makes a good thumb rest. Nice bass. Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Jealous Welcome to the Warwick lovers club. And very soon, I'm sure, you'll also join the 5-string Warwick lovers club. Just listen to that low B!! Quote
jimbobothy Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) I'm really digging the low B on my thumb at the mo, funny thing is I've got 4 passive Fenders in the side lines due to it at the mo ! Edited June 9, 2013 by jimbobothy Quote
GregBass Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 If you decide you don't like it and want to move it on, drop me a line It looks gorgeous. Quote
VTypeV4 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Hope you enjoy that as much as I love my streamer, nice purchase! Quote
throwoff Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 There is something very special about Warwick Basses, they just make 'my tone' EQ set all flat on the bass, pickups 50/50 and volume about 3/4 of the way up and she just sings. I think eventually I will take the plunge and get the CS Warwick I dream about but not till I have done some considerable saving! Quote
clashcityrocker Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 Thanks for all the kind words (for the bass). I must admit, coming from a musicman,I find this world of pick up blends quite strange. I guess you just find your 'sound' n leave it there, and wack it to neck pup for bassier lines. Need to spend some time alone with her ;-p Quote
sykilz Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I have the 4 string version ,love it to bits, I find for rock stuff I blend toward the front pick up about half way,and you get a real mid growl, then for softer stuff the mid dent ( 50/50 ) is lovely. Then you can go toward the bridge pup for tighter funkier sound, but that`s outside my remit.....!!!!!! Quote
clashcityrocker Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013
Quite a random purchase is that!
your telling me. Spent hours trying to find how much these are new, there seems to be so many models and variations. I don't know if it makes it more valuable because it German and not Korean. In happy with what I paid Quote
ezbass Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013
I guess you just find your 'sound' n leave it there, and wack it to neck pup for bassier lines.
Pretty much what I do. And speaking of pretty, nice score there, random or otherwise. Quote
Myke Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Lovely! I wish I could just go out and buy a new bass! Quote
