andydye
[s]I'm surprisingly sad about having to admit that I just can't cope with any more than 5 strings! I try to never become emotionally involved with an instrument but I just couldn't help it with this one. My hands just can't manoeuvre around a 6 string neck like I want them to and despite giving it a few months for me to get used to it, it's just not happening :-( I fully intend to get essentially the same bass but with only 5 strings from Alan as soon as I have the cash (something a lot like this, if not this very one http://www.acguitars...assic-5-string/) This is my ACG (custom – not graft) Recurve single cut 6 string, spec as follows: Ziracote top with 4mm Sycamore/4mm Wenge accent and Flame Sycamore body. Satin finish. 7 piece Wenge/Maple neck with acrylic impregnated Flame Sycamore board bound with Ziracote. Asymmetric neck carve with flat finger board. ACG EQ03 5 A/P pre-amp, ACG FB hum buckers. Hipshot Type A bridge, 18 mm spacing. Here's a link to Alan's portfolio page for this beauty: http://www.acguitars...stype-6-string/ It is in mint condition, complete with Hiscox case, it's lived in there whenever I've not been holding it, never been on a stand, been used at 6 or 8 practices, never gigged, and has a full spare set of new strings (I've not even worn out the original strings on it yet). To comission this new from Alan would cost you in excess of £2k now! I'm in Sheffield and would prefer local collection / meet up within about an hours drive radius as it's not particularly light (11lbs) and would be v pricey to ship. I will consider UK shipping though if it seals the deal.[/s] Edited July 9, 2013 by andydye
TPJ
This is a lush bass. Andy brought it 'round mine one day. It plays fantastically and just has so many tones available. Andy is a top chap as well so deal with confidence. Good luck with the sale.

rumour6
I have a Fretless 5 by Alan and played this when I went to pick mine up.... I've had a Yammy TRB6P original series, Pulcinella 6 and tried many others. This bass is BEST six you'll EVER play. I have no dosh and no way of getting any... saddest man on the forum. There's no better 6 on here regardless of brand or money.. IMHO... oh and I'm right BTW., I won't say 'good luck' just hope someone realises what an opprortunity this is... Kev
With regret i have had to back out of a trade deal for this bass. However, this was purley based on my inability to play bass to the standard required! This is a gorgeous looking instrument and i cant imagine you will find this kind of quality in a bass built by anyone for anything like this price! If it had 5 strings it would be mine, although i do not think the owner would part with it either.... BUMP

BUMP
It's a shame matey, I reckon you'd have loved the extra sonic girth to be had from the extra string, a low b is a beautiful thing as is a high c, I just can't do both at once, I may need 2 5 strings once b-g and one e-c, yes I think that's the way forward for me, more basses Edited July 5, 2013 by andydye

I can heartily recommend ACG though, this one's heading back up that way for Alan to sell on my behalf and I'm having one of his other ones that's a 5 string, they're so good!
