aende
Hi All, I was considering buying a 'normal' amp which would take 2 x 8 ohm cabs. I use 2 x 4 ohm cabs right now, so, I have 2 choices; Rewire the cabs for 16ohms each (Speakers in series) and then use both on the head to create an 8 ohm load Use a series cable to join together the 2 4ohm cabs to create 8 ohm load Which would be better? Any thoughts on running 16 ohm cabs?
GregBass
I have run 16 ohm cabs with no problem. I would suggest that rewiring the cabs is the best option - then you can use standard speaker leads to connect them. The less complication you have when setting up for a gig, the better, so I would keep it as standard as possible.
