So a bit of background.... I have a Warwick streamer stage one - it's got a very clear top end and upper mids and also a big fat bottom end too.
I wasn't happy with the tone so stuck in some barts (passive at first, sounded good) and the Glock 2 band.

What did I think?
I you like a clear transparent preamp this is good, not as much colour as say a aguilar or the MEC preamp- set flat it pretty much sounds the same in active and passive modes.
It has a very powerful bass control... shelving at 30 or 40hz (can't remember) very powerful.
It has a very very very high treble control - daftly high, so it doesn't boost the top end like most preamps do - in fact this isn't a bad thing as it adds more top end presence rather than hiss....
In passive mode it has a passive tone role off- which is quite a nice feature.

so why did I rip it out of the bass after less thanr two months?
well... this preamp didn't suit that bass. The low end was very powerfull but combined with the big bottom the bass has naturally to just add boom. But in a way that it sounded thin without any bass boost. The top end of the streamer and the glock also didn't get on - boosting at all just didn't make much effect and that it did didn't sound good. After weeks of just using it in passive mode it came out.

So you didn't like it, would you use it again?
I didn't like it on the streamer. But I would possibly use one again.
All the time I was struggling with where they had stuck the voicing on the preamp I had two thoughts in my head- one the mid control would have been good.
and two - this would sound epic on a jazz bass. The voicing would seem to match a more traditional bass sound - it's relativly uncoloured, pretty cheap and not a bad bit of kit on the right instrument....

I've just put a Glockenklang 3 Band in my Carvin. Couldn't find anything on Bass Direct site but it's the 5 knob version shown here.
http://www.glockenkl...oducts_bass.htm so not sure if it is the same one you were looking at.

It has absolutely transformed the Carvin and I can't add much more than Luke has said other than the Mid control is a very powerful ally.
I actually find I am backing off the Bass and Mid a bit rather than boosting and it really does let the Carvin pickups shine.
I have also used an East 3-band and they are pretty awesome as well.

Im bored with east, they make every guitar sound the same

 they make your bass sound like... your bass with a wide range of adjustment options, no sure how they make all guitars sound the same.

I had the 3-band Glockenklang once. I like that it allowed you to have a tone control when passive, but I was not in love with the preamp. It was very transparent, but the treble was set way too high for my liking. The bass control was big but not boomy and the mid control was good (freq selectable, I can't recall which setting I used)... but I did not really like it. I've since "discovered" the John East preamps and I like them a lot better. As you don't seem to like the JE ones, we must be after different things and maybe you would like the Glock.

I have a East and a 3 band Glock at home waiting to go in their basses, i've tried both for comparison and liked the glock more. I'ts versatile and very musical. It needs to be properly maried with the bass like someone wrote earlier, but on the three basses that i've treid them the glock sonded better in all. In the end of the day the East will go on a friend's Geddy Lee and the Glock will either replace the 2 EQ Glock on my Sandberg or will go on my TRB (haven't tried on that one yet).

It's all about taste, i find that the aggies are not of my liking and rather have the flat(ish) tone of the Glocks, others will think differently.

Cheers
